Bow River Continues To Rise As 75,000 Evacuate

More than 75,000 Calgarians were forced to evacuate their homes Friday while the Bow River continues to rise as it flows through downtown Calgary.

It has been reported that water has damaged the Scotiabank Saddledome up to its tenth row. The jumbotron room and most of the ‘Saddledome’s equipment is destroyed.

Twenty-five of Calgary’s neighborhoods were ordered overnight evacuations.

If you need to seek emergency refuge, there are several reception centres located around the city: Southland Leisure Centre, 2000 Southland Drive SW; Acadia Recreation Complex A, 240 90 Ave SE; Centre Street Church, 3900 – 2 Street, NE; Village Square Leisure Centre, 2623 56 Street NE; South Fish Creek Recreation Centre, 333 Shawville Blvd SE (please access through west doors).

People can take their pets to the Animal Service Centre (2201 Portland St. SE) or The Calgary Humane Society (4455 110th Ave SE) if they cannot arrange accommodation for them.
