Twitter is chirping, and here’s the latest buzz…

According to Wes Gilbertson (‏@SUNGilbertson) on twitter, ”Sweden’s head coach, Pär Mårts, will reportedly name Henrik Sedin’s replacement for Olympics tomorrow. #BacklundWatch

Let the speculation begin!

The Calgary Flames favorite, Mikael Backlund, is rumored to be a front-runner in the competition for a spot on Team Sweden’s roster, but as Mikael Backlund (‏@mbacklund11)  announced on twitter, ”I haven’t heard anything about Olympics. I haven’t got the call to from Pär Mårts. No replacement is official yet!”

Backlund has definitely earned a top spot on the Olympic roster. If you missed my write-up on Mikael from earlier, here is the link to Mikael Backlund Having A Great Season for a little bit of background information on the top Flames forward.

What do you think? Should Mikael Backlund replace Henrik Sedin on Team Sweden or is there someone else who would better fit the position?
