Good morning Calgary Flames fans!

Flame For Thought has started a “re-introducing your Calgary Flames” column.  The first player reviewed was Mikael Backlund.  With Backlund entering the final year of his contract, the column features a poll asking Flame For Thought family members what the Calgary Flames should do with the 25 year old Swede.  Tonight’s re-introduction will be T.J. Brodie.

The Calgary Flames official website re-posted a story from NHL.com on Connor McDavid. McDavid is currently deemed the top prospect for the 2015 NHL Draft. My hope for the 2014-15 season is that the Calgary Flames are more about contending for a playoff spot than being a team in the Connor McDavid sweepstakes.

Staying with NHL.com, Miikka Kiprusoff’s move to goaltending coach got some spotlight.  If ever there was a decision that seemed like a no-brainer, Kipper being a goalie coach has to be it.  I wonder if Kipper will ever coach at the NHL level?

The Flames official website yesterday also announced that the club moved their ECHL affiliate from Alaska to Colorado.  I wonder if the ECHL and the Colorado Avalanche would allow Jarome Iginla to be special guest at one of their games?

Did anybody catch the TSN.ca stream of the Canada versus Czech Republic World Junior Camp Exhibition game yesterday?  Canada beat the Czech’s 6-2.  Looking at the stats page from HockeyCanada.ca, I see that Sam Bennett played collecting no points or penalty minutes.  Also noticed that Morgan Klimchuk did not play.  Canada plays again tonight versus Russia.

Have a wonderful Wednesday Flames fans!
