After an unfortunate loss in the series opener, the Calgary Flames are down 1-0 in the series against the Anaheim Ducks. Let’s look at what went wrong in the series opener.

After a well fought out game like everyone expected, the Calgary Flames unfortunately lost 3-2 in a close game. The Honda Center curse continues to live on for this team. They have not beaten the Anaheim Ducks in Anaheim in over a decade.

Now, I hate talking about this stinking curse because it doesn’t do anybody any good and the constant mention of it by the media will definitely affect the team mentally. Also, none of these players are the same as in 2004, when they last won a regular season game there. But that being said, you can’t help but bring it up. Especially when Ducks fans chant, “You can’t win here!”

I hate Ducks fans.

Kidding! I like you guys. Only some of you. Sometimes. Not right now.

Anyways.

I kept saying, “If the Flames win game 1, they can win the series.” But after some mistakes by the team, the Ducks won. Let’s look at three things that went wrong in the series opener to see why the Flames couldn’t take this one.
