1. D Olen Zellweger
There are plenty of players in the National Hockey League who hail from Calgary, and seemingly every off-season or trade deadline, several of them are linked to their home town Flames. The most recent (and likely realistic) of them all is Anaheim Ducks defenseman Olen Zellweger, who appeared in just three playoff games for Anaheim this season, with the team showing their hand and making him a healthy scratch for their post-season run.
During the regular season however, the 22-year-old was fantastic once again, posting a career high of 22 points across 76 games played, while averaging 17 minutes per game. At this point in time, he's likely not a top pairing defenseman, but at the age of 22, he's showing the potential and the offensive upside to be a true contributor at the NHL level.
Not only that, but he fills arguably the Flames biggest need on the left side of the defense, and given the home town connection and the chance to mess with a rival team that has some big contracts coming up, it would be a no-brainer move for the Flames.
