Good morning Calgary Flames fans!

Late last night, Flame For Thought re-introduced Flames goaltender Karri Ramo.  Last season, Ramo missed about six weeks with a knee injury but still finished with 37 games started. Setting 37 as Ramo’s personal over/under for games started in the upcoming season, would you take the “over” or the “under”?  I would bet my shiny penny on the “under 37” for my Karri Ramo games started prediction.

Jonas Hiller, the goalie who I believe will get the lion’s share of the Calgary Flame starts this upcoming season, has reportedly fully recovered from his appendix surgery earlier this summer.

"“I talked to him the other day and he’s back, 100 percent, skating, working out,” Flames general manager Brad Treliving told the Calgary Herald on Thursday. “He’s been back in his routine, fully functional, and no issues.”"

Today, August 15th, is likely the last day Kevin Hayes will be under the control of the Chicago Blackhawks.  Kevin Hayes, the 24th overall draft pick of the Blackhawks in 2010, played in Boston College starring on a line with current Calgary Flames Johnny Gaudreau and Bill Arnold.  IF the Blackhawks do allow Hayes to become a free agent, Calgary is considered to be one of many teams that will pursue the 6’3″ over 200 pound prospect.  Here’s hoping the following tweet is a sign of things to come.

Yesterday, I mentioned the “Ice Bucket Challenge”.  Posting a video of yourself dumping a bucket of ice cold water over your head in support of ALS aka Lou Gehrig Disease.  The phenomenon has even reached Commissioner levels.  Yip, NHL commish Gary Bettman accepted the challenge and doused himself.  Shame he didn’t allow one lucky fan from every hockey team to dump an ice water bucket over his head but kudos to the man for participating.  Guess who he challenged – – Calgary Flames president of hockey operations BRIAN BURKE!!  Does Burke accept the challenge??

Have a great day Flames fans!
