Need a sign of how things are trending for Alberta’s hockey teams?

Josh Jooris scored his 6th, 7th and 8th goals in only his 19th professional hockey game to earn many headlines in Calgary Flames reports about the 5-2 win over Arizona.

If I may, I would like to shine a little light on Kris Russell and his contributions to helping our Calgary Flames beat the Arizona Coyotes for the second time in four nights.

On Josh Jooris‘ 1st goal of the night, which gave the Flames a 2-1 lead, Kris Russell made either an incredible pass or was just trying to get the puck on the net.  I’m going to go with Russell aiming the puck toward the net in such a manner he figured the rebound would go towards Jooris and it turned out to be a wicked pass.

Kris Russell is known for his shot blocking abilities as he is currently 2nd in the NHL in that department.  The Josh Jooris goal that made it 3-2 for our Flames came after a Kris Russell shot block.  Johnny Gaudreau is going to get much love for what he was able to do with the rebound after the shot block, but let’s gingerly pat the back of the man who put himself in front of the puck, Mr. Kris Russell.

The Sean Monahan goal to make it a 4-2 game reads “assisted by Dennis Wideman and Curtis Glencross”.  Kris Russell was the Calgary Flames player with the 1st pass that originated the play.

Going back to Johnny Gaudreau for a quick second.  We are just barely past the quarter mark of the season and I’m already running out of expressions to compliment Johnny Gaudreau.  Mr. Gaudreau passed “wow” weeks ago.  What’s better than wow?

I thought Michael Ferland had a strong 1st period.  Ferland on a couple occasions got himself in front of the Arizona crease creating scoring opportunities and chances to “mingle” with the opposing teams defenders.  From everything I have heard about Mr. Ferland that is when he is at his best.

Dare I suggest Sven Baertschi will not reach his best while he is getting less time than Brandon Bollig though?
