Frederik Andersen has youth on his side and seems to be stuck down the pecking order for the Anaheim Ducks. He could definitely step up as the Calgary Flames wait for Jon Gillies to be ready.
With the emergence of All-Star, John Gibson at the Anaheim Ducks, Frederik Andersen could be available for the taking by the Calgary Flames.
At only 26-years-old, he represents a young goaltender that could fill the void that will be left when Jonas Hiller and Karri Ramo likely find themselves shipped out.
Likewise, there would be plenty of room for him to reach his true potential with the Calgary Flames as it’d seem likely that he become a bonafide starter.

A young goaltender to do the job for the Calgary Flames whilst Jon Gillies continues to mature would be fantastic for the team, but there is a drawback to targeting Andersen on the trade market.
The Anaheim Ducks aren’t stupid and will realise that this is a young and talented player they’re dealing; they’re not just going to accept some old equipment bags and a pair of gym socks for him.
It’d seem likely that the Calgary Flames would be parting with at least a prospect and a pick, if not more to acquire Andersen.
Worth it?
Probably; all depends who is on the table going the opposite way.
