Battle Of Alberta, Take 5

facebooktwitterreddit

Tonight is the 5th match up of the Battle of Alberta, with Calgary Flames walking away with a win in all previous match ups against the Edmonton Oilers.  In addition to a successful match up so far this season against the Oilers, the Flames do have the advantage of being home tonight.  No surprise, the Flames are a much stronger team at home in the Dome than on the road, which as you saw at the end of December give them problems.  Look for the Flames to explode tonight against the Oilers, the win over the LA Kings, the close call against Dallas Stars, the blowout over the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the triumph over the Vancouver Canucks can only help the Flames confidence level tonight.

More good news comes out of Calgary today as Curtis Glencross announces his planned return sometime next week:

Further proof he’s ready to come back?  He and Derek Smith took the ice this morning at practice.

"Curtis Glencross also participated in the #Flamespractice this morning  — @NHLFlamesDerek Smith is all smiles at the #Flames practice this morning — @NHLFlames"

Having the two of them healthy and on the roster can only help the team as they continue to push towards a secure playoff spot.  Every player healthy means  one more chance of getting those two points and as you look at the standings, every point matters at this time of the season.

Puck drops in just over two hours!

Go Flames Go!
