With the Olympic trade freeze on now, there will be no movement in the Flames franchise. But that doesn’t stop the rumor mill from flowing. Thomas Vanek, Ryan Callahan, and Mike Cammalleri are three names that have been thrown around a lot lately but no moves have been made. As reported by Brian Costello of the Hockey News, Cammalleri could be on his way to a west coast team, specifically in California or to Vancouver. As explained by Costello, the L.A. Kings are in need of some offensive players and so are the Anaheim Ducks. San Jose Sharks and Vancouver Canucks could also use the skills that Cammalleri would bring.

Is Mike Cammalleri on the chopping block after the trade freeze? Or will he remain a Calgary Flames forward for a few more years?

The Pittsburgh Penguins have announced that Kris Letang will be out for a few weeks after suffering a stroke last week. The Pens Labyrinth has the full story. Best wishes for a full recovery to Kris!

As I wrote earlier, Marcus Johansson is on his way to Sochi to represent Sweden in men’s hockey instead of Mikael Backlund. Stars And Sticks has a full write-up. Good luck to Johansson!

Well, I’m off to go see the former Boston Bruins defenseman, the legendary Bobby Orr speak and I will have more for you on my time in the presence of the legend, the man, and my greatest hockey hero in the next couple of days.

Confession: I’m having a FanGirl moment right now!
