Brian McGrattan was hurt during practice on Thursday and now the Flames team is in need of a forward to take his place. Ben Hanowski is that someone. He was called up from the Abbotsford Heat on Thursday night. You can read more about Ben Hanowski on his player profile.

Because Karri Ramo is hurt and Reto Berra is still in Russia due to the Olympics, the Calgary Flames called up Joni Ortio but they were still searching for a backup goaltender. Brent Krahn got that call. Krahn was interviewed by Flames TV about his temporary position.

Johnny Gaudreau, otherwise known as “Johnny Hockey,” is relentless in his point streak as he has extended it again to 27 games after a 3-0 shutout win against the UMass Lowell after returning from the break.

Joe Colborne was honored recently when the Camrose Kodiaks retired his jersey number. Always humble and ever appreciative, Colborne explained on the Flames website that he was surprised by the honor.

Some of the Calgary Flames players took in the semifinal game between Team Canada and Team USA together. Here is a clip from Flames TV, and some thoughts from the players.
