Hockey Updates – Reto Berra, Dmitry Orlov, Tim Bozon

The Washington Capitals have resigned defenseman Dmitry Orlov to a two-year, four million dollar contract. Orlov is a young, 22 year old Russian player who was selected in the second round of the 2009 Entry Draft by the Capitals. He has 9 points in 40 games with Washington this season. The Colorado Avalanche have signed Reto Berra to three year extension. With rumors flying that Giguere may be considering retirement, Berra was signed before his first game for the Avs. Berra is a 27 year old goaltender from Switzerland who had a record of .897 save percentage and 2.95 GAA with the Flames this season. More sad news in the hockey world. The WHL has announced that they have created a trust fund for Tim Bozon, the WHL Kootenay Ice player who acquired Neisseria Meningitis and is in a coma at a Saskatoon hospital. Our thoughts are with Tim and his family. (WHL.com)
