Good morning Calgary Flames fans! Let’s see what’s been happening in the world of Flames in the last 24 hours.

It’s a little warmer in Calgary than it has been the last few days and now my face doesn’t freeze off when I leave the house. The Calgary Flames took on the Colorado Avalanche last night in what many people thought could be Jarome Iginla‘s last game at the Saddledome. I’m secretly hoping he pulls a Jaromir Jagr and plays until he’s like 45. Well, I guess that’s no secret anymore.

And what happened in last night’s game? Well, my heart was broken. Because former Flames captain, Jarome Iginla, and current Flames captain, Mark Giordano, almost got into a fight. Iginla went as far as dropped his gloves before the refs stopped it. Thank you refs, I’m pretty sure my heart would have exploded if they fought.

You can find more of our post-game recap aka me freaking out and Twitter freaking out because of Iginla and Gio here.

But with this struggling Avalanche team who has lost 10 of their last 11, a trade before trade deadline for Iginla is highly likely. Will he come to the Flames? As much as I want him to, probably not. There are talks that he could potentially be going to Edmonton. Now, since I grew up being a Flames/Iginla fan, I’ve been following him everywhere he went. But I’m not sure I can follow him to Edmonton (Please Iggy come back here).

With last night’s win, Mikael Backlund is now on a five game point streak with a goal in each game. He has six goals and three assists in that five-game stretch. This is the first time a Flame has that long of a goal streak since Curtis Glencross in 2012 who had a goal streak for seven straight games.
