Good morning Calgary Flames fans! It’s a slightly chilling morning in Calgary today. Let’s take a look at news surrounding the Flames.

The Calgary Flames are coming off a 2-1 overtime loss against the Vancouver Canucks and heading to music city to take on the Nashville Predators on Tuesday. This loss wasn’t the worst or most embarrassing thing in the world. I mean, yeah they let in a goal from center ice. But they did redeem themselves and battled hard, especially in the third period to tie up the game with just six seconds left.

But you know how it ends, they lost in overtime. At least they still got a point. There’s a post-game recap here if you’d like to check it out.

Let’s take a look at how the players felt after the game.

"“We got a point out of it. It’s still frustrating,” Elliott said. “We always talk about, in overtime, that you’ve got to make that one big save to go the other way. It didn’t happen tonight.”“We were intense,” Gulutzan said. “I thought there was a bit of a playoff atmosphere out there – a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes that maybe regulars watching the game didn’t see.  It was a hard-fought game.”"

Now let’s see what’s happening with a guy we haven’t heard about in a while.

Hunter Shinkaruk

Hunter Shinkaruk was traded to the Flames last year by the Canucks. This was special for the kid, because he grew up being a Flames fan and watching games at the ‘Dome. So to get to play in the arena you grew up in is always something special.

However, he’s been down in the AHL, but he’s wanting to make his mark and come back to  play with the team.

Via Calgary Herald:

"“Obviously, scoring for Calgary was cool but, at the end of the day, I don’t really want to have just two goals for Calgary. I want a lot more,” said Shinkaruk, currently toiling for the American Hockey League’s Stockton Heat. “The thing that pushes me is knowing when I came up last year and played in that offensive role that I’m paid to do, I succeeded. That’s what pushes me — to know that when I ever get that chance again, it’s going to work out.“I love this game, I love what I do and I’m waiting for that opportunity.”"
