Calgary Flames Daily: Team on the Verge of Franchise History
Good morning Calgary Flames fans! It’s a cold and snowy day here in Calgary again. Let’s take a look at some news surrounding this team over the last day.
There’s only one more day before the Calgary Flames play hockey again. Let’s just hope that their three days off don’t give them a post-bye-week repeat. The Flames will welcome the Montreal Canadiens at the ‘Dome tomorrow evening where the Flames will look to get closer to franchise history.
As we’re all aware because I can’t stop talking about it, the Flames are on a seven-game win streak. Their franchise record? Eight games. With one more win, they’ll tie a franchise record and they could even beat that. However, since we’ve all been made aware of this, including the team, now it won’t happen.
We always know what happens to the team when they’re aware of some franchise history (insert Sean Monahan not getting his 100th goal for weeks reference).

Via Calgary Herald:
“That would be special,” said Flames winger and veteran voice-of-reason Kris Versteeg. “It’s always special to be a part of those teams and a part of history. But before you get there, you always have to put the work in. It’s exciting that you put yourselves in that situation, but now it’s just about going out and playing another game.”
And then we of course have Matthew Tkachuk, Flames rookie and child, who didn’t even know the Flames were on a seven-game win streak.
“It’s already seven?” he replied with a chuckle. “That just shows you we don’t pay attention to it.“Let’s go eight against Montreal and then hopefully win the ninth. That would be cool. Keep this thing going as long as possible.”
And then we have Brian Elliott, who is in the same boat as me aka don’t tell the team about these things!
“See, that’s why we don’t like these questions. You don’t want to hear those things,” he teased. “We’re just trying to win the next game.”

That’s all in this edition of Flames Daily! If the media jinxed the win-streak by letting the players know about it, I’ll write a very angry letter to them.
