Happy Tuesday Calgary Flames fans! With a win last night, the Flames are now inching closer to a spot in the Pacific Division.

The Calgary Flames had an exciting 4-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche. They have swept the season series against the Avs going 3-0-0. The Flames currently sit in the first wildcard spot and with the win last night, they’re just one point away from second and third spot.

They’re also just potentially one win away from clinching a playoff berth.

In the win last night, goalie Brian Elliott earned a third star of the game (surprise, surprise) by saving 24 of 26 shots. But give credit to the Avalanche, they pushed hard in the third period where they scored those two goals.

Somebody else who had a lot of push last night was Sean Monahan. He opened up the scoring within the first two minutes on the powerplay and had an explosive game all night – getting four points. He now has 56 points on the year which is second on the team and has a team-leading 26 goals. This is also his third consecutive 25+ goals season. He’s now on pace to hit 60 points which is slightly below his last two seasons, 62 and 63 points. However, considering how his season started, this is quite impressive for his second half of the season.

"“I’m proud of the guys and the spot they’ve put themselves in. A lot of hard work went into that, and now we need to finish it off,” said Flames head coach Glen Gulutzan. “We think good teams get themselves into the playoffs themselves. They don’t wait for help. So we’ll be ready on Wednesday, and hopefully we can move ourselves into a position to get that X.”“There were a few dark days in this locker-room,” Brouwer admitted. “But what we’ve been able to do, I’ll even say from December on, has been great for this room, great for this city. And to play a big game against a division rival on Wednesday and be able to clinch playoffs and get this hockey club back in the playoffs, it means a lot to everybody in here.”"
