Flames Trade Tim Erixon To Rangers

The Calgary Flames have traded the rights to unsigned draft pick Tim Erixon to the New York Rangers. Erixon has already signed an entry-level contract with New York.Along with the defenceman, the Flames will send a fifth-round draft pick to the Rangers in exchange for prospect Roman Horak and two second-round draft picks.The Flames selected Erixon 23rd overall in 2009 and had until 5pm et Wednesday to sign him or he would have re-entered the draft.Erixon recorded 24 points in 48 games for Skelleftea of the Swedish Elite League, and added another eight points in the playoffs. Erixon also represented Sweden at the World Juniors in December.In Horak, the Flames get a former fifth-round draft pick who recorded 78 points in 64 games for the Chilliwack Bruins of the WHL.Erixon’s father Jan played nine seasons for the Rangers.
