After much speculation, the Calgary Flames have hired veteran Craig Hartsburg as an assistant coach.

"Hartsburg has 14 years of NHL coaching experience, having served as the head coach for the Chicago Blackhawks, the Anaheim Ducks and the Ottawa Senators. He was also an assistant coach with the Minnesota North Stars and the Philadelphia Flyers.On Sunday, Hartsburg stepped down as head coach of the Western Hockey League’s Everett Silvertips “to pursue an opportunity in the National Hockey League.”In two seasons with Everett, Hartsburg compiled a 74-54-16 record and was nominated for the WHL’s coach of the year award in 2009-10.The Flames also announce that Jamie Pringle has been added as the senior video analyst.“We are thrilled to welcome Craig and Jamie to the Flames organization and Brent Sutter’s coaching staff,” general manager Jay Feaster said. “Both individuals bring a wealth of knowledge and experience as well as a track record of success. Just as importantly, both have worked with Brent in the past and, as a group, have won a championship together.“In assembling Brent’s new coaching staff, one of our primary objectives was to enable Brent to select the people in whom he had the most confidence and the personnel he felt would help us achieve the success we strive for in Calgary, and I am pleased to say that both Craig and Jamie fit that description.”Pringle joins the Flames coaching staff after three seasons as the video coach with the Florida Panthers. Prior to that, Pringle spent the 2006-07 and 2007-08 season as the video coach for Hockey Canada. He was part of the staff for all international events including the 2006 Winter Olympics, winning gold at the 2007 IIHF World Championship and winning gold at the 2007 and 2008 IIHF World Junior Championships."
