You will never find a happier kid than me tonight, so so very glad I was wrong about the Flames score against the Oilers. The sweet victory in the Battle of Alberta reached all the way to New Jersey tonight. With the last 7 match ups, the Flames have walked away the victor, I’m proud of these guys for stepping it up, especially with Mikael Backlund stepping up with a game winning goal to start off his season of goals. That is something special, even better that it’s against the Oilers.
With that being said I wanted to give everyone a few updates about the month of December.
- There’s a few games before now and then, but I figured you’d all like a game we have a chance at– but Flame for Thought will be hosting a live chat during the Avalanche game on Thursday, December 8th. As the puck drops, join me and your fellow Flames fans as we watch the game and maybe a few brave Avalanche will drop in to chat with us.
- Every other Thursday, so December 15th is the next one, myself and Kristina Kelly of Cardiac Cane co-host Ladies’ Night on Fansided’s RinkSide Rants. You can check out our first two broadcasts on archives and if you really want to hold on to the memory, there is a link for iTunes to download our episodes.
- If you chose not to listen, I’ll supply you with this little teaser: last episode, Kristina and I rewrote classic Christmas songs into hockey themed songs. While I did not since my version of “12 Days of Christmas” and merely read them, you’ll thoroughly enjoy Kristina doing an early Madonna impression as she sings a hockey version of “Santa Baby”. Here are the 12 Days of Hockey according to me:
On the First Day of Christmas the Hockey Gods gave to me:
A team that doesn’t play the trap
2 Solid D men
3 Exciting periods
4 Coaching Changes
5 Minutes for Fighting!
6 Canucks a diving
7 Mentions of Crosby in a minute
8 Trade Rumors about Iginla
9 Pekka Rinne’s
10 Minute Game Misconduct
Blood On The Ice by The Riverdales
11 Gordie Howe Hat tricks
12 Pints of Ice cream for Boudreau
So while this isn’t exactly a hockey based post, I hope it piques your interest enough to join us on December 8th and tune in December 15th!
