Brendan Morrison Traded To The Blackhawks

Just over two hours ago, the Calgary Flames managed to convince the Chicago Blackhawk to take on aging center Brendan Morrison off their hands in return for the young defenseman Brian Connelly.

Fresh off the IR, Morrison leaves the Flames with 4 goals, 7 assists, and 6 PIM in 28 games.  In return the Flames receive a younger player (25, compared to Morrison’s 36).  The stats on Connelly?

Last season, Connelly finished the season with 41 assists and 11 goals.  Currently, Connelly has playing in 44 games and racked up 36 points so far.  With  31 assists, clearly this the man for getting puck in goal scoring position for some of the key scorers on the Flames.  While Morrison has done a noble job in his time as a Flame, I am excited to see what Connelly can bring to the Flames.
