Calgary Flames Take On The Detroit Red Wings After The All-Star Break

facebooktwitterreddit

Currently in first for the Western Conference is the Detroit Red Wings, who, much like the Calgary Flames, are going into this game with a loss before the start of the All Star Break.  While the pregame show might put a damper on the spirit for a moment, there is no denying the battle will mostly come down to the battle between the pipes.

Tonight, Miikka Kiprusoff will face Jimmy Howard with a slow heeling team.  With Curtis Glencross still out with a lower body injury, Alex Tanguay is expected to move to a line with Jarome Iginla tonight.  Henrik Karlsson is still out with sprained right MCL, so with only the rookie, Leland Irving, for back up, it is of the utmost importance that the Flames maintain a constant attack, both offensively and defensively, on the Red Wings.

The Flames won’t have an easy time, while Iginla and Pavel Datsyuk were on the same team for the All Star Game, you can bet the two of them will return to their respective sides with the same fire and passion they’ve always possessed.

With two wins left until 300 career wins, Kiprusoff will hopefully play with the spark of a desperate man.  300 wins is an impressive feat for the goalie and should be achieved by the end of the week.
