With the adrenaline rush of Trade Deadline coming to an end and the smoke of disappointment clearing, the Calgary Flames came away rather smartly, playing it safe and not getting carried away.
The only movement the Flames had today was resigning 30 year old right wing Tim Jackman. In July his 2 year contract will be up and Jay Feaster saw it fit to extend that contract for another two seasons. Signed for $1,225,000 over two seasons ($612,500 cap hit per season), Feaster kept expectations under control and didn’t cut a giant check for Jackman.
Unfortunately, I wished the Flames addressed one more ending contract, Olli Jokinen. His most recent contract with the Flames is a 2 year contract with a $3 million cap hit ending in July. Hopefully the Flames catch on to how important he is to the team and resign him before it is too late.
Go Flames Go!
