Currently rocking it in 6th place, the Abbotsford Heat are plugging along in the AHL. With their 12 day road trip coming to a close tonight, the Heat have managed to go 3-1-2 on this road trip. Since they embarked on this trip back on the 17th, the line up has changed up a few times thanks to the Calgary Flames need to fill in their line up. Will there be a playoff run by the Heat?
First to go was Henrik Karlsson, who was sent to the Heat for a two week conditioning stint after his return from injury on the 19th which meant the return of Leland Irving. Paul Byron had been recalled to the Flames before the road trip began and returned last Thursday. Guillaume Desbiens was recalled by the Flames on Friday and Krys Kolanos was returned to the Heat on the 27th. And finally, Russ Sinkewich was released from his PTO on Monday.
That’s a ton of changes going on for a team in 12 days. People showing up and leaving, adapting your style as the line up changes. Yeah it normal for an AHL team to shuffle around a bit, but the Heat managed to keep their momentum going. They walked away with 3 wins not on their ice. That’s pretty spectacular. When the Flames had their road trip back in December, 7 games were played on the road and they walked away with one win in regulation.
Tonight the Heat takes on the Rockford Ice Hogs and then have a 6 game run at home.
Go Heat Go!
