Calgary Flames can’t seem to catch a break when it comes to injuries this season. After Saturday’s game against the Dallas Stars, both Lance Bouma and Mike Cammalleri have missed out on practice due to injury.
Lance Bouma tried to follow through with a hit but ended up plowing himself into the boards. Bouma received the mysterious “upper boy injury” that seems to be plaguing the NHL lately. “Upper body” covers everything from head to torso. There’s no timeline for this injury. So for me? I’m counting Bouma out for the rest of the season, his return would be a nice bonus to the team but I’m not hold out hope. As for Mike Cammalleri, he also sustained an upper body injury during the Dallas game.
In response to the injuries of Bouma and Cammalleri, and then Blake Comeau’s upper body injury on Friday against the Anaheim Ducks, the Flames recalled Guillaume Desbiens, Krys Kolanos and Greg Nemisz from the Abbotsford Heat to fill in for the three downed forwards.
What will this mean for the Flames on Tuesday? Certainly not a good thing, but the quick replacement of players means more time for the lines to adjust and adapt. Desbiens, Kolanos, and Nemisz are projected to play on the same line against the Montreal Canadiens.
Go Flames Go!
