Helmets During Warmups?

I guess with the night off I should weigh in on this debate of helmets during pre-game warm ups.  This is weeks after the fact, there haven’t been any incidences in a while, but I was reminded of this problem when reading my latest copy of The Hockey News.  According to their readers, 45% of them think players should wear helmets during pre-game warmup.

While most teams do not have a set protocol on helmets for pre-game warm ups, it seems there is a large number of fans who believe in player safety.  Back in January, the Edmonton Oilers faced a problem with their star player, Taylor Hall, was in a freak accident:

While that is nothing but a complete fluke, it’s happened once, it can happen again.  With such a strong movement to maintain player safety, wouldn’t it be the best idea to take steps stop this from happening again?  This is something that requires no research, no studies, nothing but the common sense that comes from the example of Hall’s accident.  Skates, pucks, stick, and other bodies moving around are all dangers out on the ice. 20 more minutes of helmet wearing could prevent accidents like Hall’s.

The fever is clouding my thinking so sorry if I’m dumbing it down, but what are your opinions on this?
