Winning their last 5 games, and going 6-1-1 for the month of March so far, the Calgary Flames seem to really want the 8th seed in the playoffs. While it may be too little too late, I am enjoying the resurgence of confidence and skill level. But a quick update on the roster and the upcoming days.
- Krys Kolanos was assigned back to the Abbotsford Heat Tuesday night after being recalled to the Flames on March 5th. He played in 3 games this time around, and ended with 0 points.
- Leland Irving was recalled from the Heat Wednesday afternoon. Could Brent Sutter be planning on playing him tonight against the Edmonton Oilers or Sunday night versus Columbus Blue Jackets?
- Just a small reminder as we ride high on the skills that are Sven Baertschi, he will have to return to the Portland Winter Hawks soon. Baertschi is on emergency recall while Lance Bouma and Lee Stempniak are out, he can not stick around.
- Flames currently sit in 10th place, tied at 80 points with San Jose Sharks but a game ahead. With only 11 games left, the Flames need to grab as many of those 22 points as they can if they want to see a playoff berth.
- All remaining games are against Western Conference teams, each win for the Flames means another team is denied.
And just a refresher on the skills of Sven Baertschi:
Go Flames Go!
