The Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy is awarded at the end of each season to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey. The list of nominees by local chapters of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association was released and the Calgary Flames have Mikka Kiprusoff in the pool.
Kipper has been part of the Flames since the 2003-2004 season and has quietly earned recognition as the backbone of the team. Having never been nominated, if he wins, Kipper will be joining Gary Roberts and Lanny McDonald as previous Flames winner.
Other nominees include Jaromir Jagr of the Philadelphia Flyers, Corey Potter of the Edmonton Oilers, Joffrey Lupul of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Max Pacioretty of the Montreal Canadiens to name a few.
