On Saturday it was announced that the Calgary Flames defensemen, Chris Butler would be joining the U.S. Men’s National Team for the 2012 IIHF Men’s World Championship.
A native to Missouri, Butler has been with the Flames for one season, with a previous three season stint in with the Buffalo Sabres. In 2006 he was on Team USA for the U.S. National Junior Team and played for the University of Denver for 3 seasons.
In one season with the Flames, Butler played in 68 games, managed 2 goal, 13 assists, 34 PIM. While he is not an offensive defenseman, he is a critical member of the team as a physical player. With 70 hits this season, he makes his presence known on the ice.
Best of luck to him this spring as he represents the USA.
