Calgary Flames Sign Former Goalie Cloutier As Assistant Coach

In addition to picking up Bob Hartley as head coach, the Calgary Flames have also scored an assistant coach.  Jacques Cloutier, former goaltender for the Buffalo Sabres, Chicago Blackhawks, and the Quebec Nordiques, has joined the Flames family.

Cloutier spend time as a goaltender coach for the Nordiques after his retirement, from 1994 until 1995 when the team relocated to Colorado.  The following season, Cloutier became assistant coach for the Avs and won the Stanley Cup with them in 1996.  He was joined by Bob Hartley and the two brought the Avs to the Stanley Cup again in 2001.

Cloutier was released from is contract with the Avalanche in 2009 and has been away from hockey since.

His addition to the Calgary Flames franchise brings outside experience, both playing and coaching, that the team sorely needs.

This is shaping up to be an interesting off season for the Calgary Flames.
