Calgary Flames Stay Quiet On July 1st

It has been a surprisingly quiet July 1st for the Calgary Flames, either Jay Feaster is enjoying his holiday or someone really did listen to me and took away his checkbook.   The biggest news of the day has been David Moss heading to the Phoenix Coyotes.

Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed right wing David Moss to a two-year contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

What is known is that the former Flame will be greatly missed and it will be near impossible for me to root for him as he takes the ice as a Coyotes for the next two seasons.

Outside of this move, the Flames have (thankfully) been rather quiet, thinking through moves hopefully, rather than just running out and offering contracts to every player out there.  Friday, Calgary resigned Cory Sarich (boooo) and Lee Stempniak and since then have kept the checkbook hidden.

It seems tomorrow will be the bigger day for signings as multiple free agents have informed teams that their decision will come tomorrow and not today.  Will the Calgary Flames go all in with a big name or will they continue to stick to building a team around 3rd and 4th liners?  I guess only time will tell.

Go Flame Go!  (And make good decisions)
