According to reports, newly acquired goalie prospect, Reto Berra, and the Calgary Flames will announce a 1-year deal next month that will likely see the Swiss goaltender play professionally in North America for the first time in his career. Berra was acquired in the trade that sent Bouwmeester to St. Louis.
The 26-year-old Berra has played in 49 games this year for Biel in the Swiss-A League, posting a .906 save percentage while averaging 3.01 goals per game.
If Miikka Kiprusoff is traded before the start of next season, the Calgary Flames will not have any goalies on it’s NHL roster. Backup goaltender, Joey MacDonald’s, contract expires at the end of this season while Kiprusoff’s runs through the 2013-14 season.
