Flames Ink Hanowski

A day after completing his collegiate career, St. Cloud State University captain, Ben Hanowski has signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Calgary Flames. The Little Falls, Minnesota, native posted 31 points in 37 games this season for the Huskies in the NCAA.

St. Cloud State lost in the semi-final of the NCAA Championship 4-1 Thursday.

Hanowski was originally drafted 63rd overall by the Penguins in 2009 but his rights were acquired in a trade that sent Jarome Iginla to Pittsburgh.

The two-year contract will value at $810,000 with the average annual value worth $900,000.

Jay Feaster confirmed that Hanowski will play in the NHL for the remainder of the season.
