The second to last game of the year is here. Boy, this season really flew by but for most Calgary fans it didn’t go fast enough. It should be an exciting offseason in Cowtown but first the Flames have to play two teams who have clinched a birth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Tonight, at 6:00 PM MT, the Flames are in St. Louis to do battle with Jay Bouwmeester and the Blues. Congrats to Bouwmeester who is headed to the playoffs, finally! Joey MacDonald will get the start in goal for the Calgary Flames. MacDonald’s last start was Sunday night where he was the star in St. Paul stopping 34 of 35 shots and helping the Flames to a 4-1 win over the Wild. MacDonald is 8-7-1 thus far in Calgary and it looks like he’ll be the starter next season.
Offensively, the Flames will look like this…
And defensively like this…
Giordano-Wideman
Brodie-Cundari
Butler-Carson
The Blues are 27-17-2 and are headed to the playoffs for the second-straight year. Bouwmeester has a goal and five assists in 12 games for St. Louis since being traded.
The season series is tied 1-1. The Blues won the last game in Calgary on February 15, 5-2.
Puck drop is at 6:00 PM MT. You can listen on the FAN960, watch it on a TV on Sportsnet West or watch it online for free here.
Prediction: The Flames lose to a Blues team that is trying to clinch a higher seed in the playoffs. St. Louis wins 5-2. Bouwmeester has a goal and two assists. Cammalleri and Backlund score. MacDonald saves 30 of 35.
