Flames Stack Up on College Talent, Acquire Knight
The Calgary Flames have acquired center Corban Knight from the Florida Panthers for Calgary’s fourth-round pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
Knight hails from High River, Alberta, which is just south of Calgary, and just wrapped up his senior season at the University of North Dakota. He registered 146 total points in 161 games.
The 22-year-old center was originally acquired by the Panthers via the 2009 NHL Draft where Florida selected him in the fifth-round.
Before beginning his collegiate career he played juniors in the Alberta Junior Hockey League for the Okotoks Oilers, scoring 34 goals and assisting on 38 in 61 games, while leading Okotoks to the second-round of the AJHL Playoffs.
Knight checks in at 6-2, 200 pounds and is still unsigned. Expect Flames GM, Jay Feaster, to make an announcement soon regarding the signing of Knight.
