The only team consistently worse than Calgary and with all their number one picks still finds a way to miss the playoffs. The Edmonton Oilers call the Rexall Place home but construction for a new downtown arena will begin soon. The franchise dates back to 1972 as the Alberta Oilers playing in the WHA. After just one season, the Oilers dropped Alberta and became the Edmonton Oilers. In 1979, the NHL and WHA merged and the Battle of Alberta was born.

The team has 5 Stanley Cups, 7 Conference Titles, 9 Division Championships and 2 Presidents’ Trophies. A successful franchise, mostly due to the fact that Wayne Gretzky wore his #99 here for ten seasons, but has struggled to be competitive in recent years.

The Oilers recently introduced Dallas Eakins as the teams new head-coach. Some big-name players on Edmonton are Jordan Eberle, Nail Yakupov, Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, David Perron and Andrew Ference.

2013-14 Season Prediction: 40-42 (4th Place)
