The Calgary Flames have signed Steve Begin and Carter Bancks to one year , two way contracts.
Steve Begin , a 35 year old Veteran native of Trois Rivieres , Quebec appeared in 36 games for the Calgary Flames last season posting just four goals and four assists with a +/-1 . The Calgary Flames drafted Begin in the 2nd round of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft playing for the organization from 1997-2003 , since then Begin has played for the Montreal Canadiens , Dallas Stars , Boston Bruins and Nashville Predators. The work Ethic Centre battled injury and doing so, the Calgary Chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association nominated Begin for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy that best represent sportsmanship, perseverance and dedication to Hockey.
Carter Bancks , a 24 year old Undrafted native of Marysville , BC is entering his fourth Pro Season with the Abbotsford Heat. Bancks played four full seasons from 2006-2010 with the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the Western Hockey League posting 58 goals and 120 assists in 262 games. Last season with the Abbotsford Heat Carter Bancks posted just 5 goals and 7 assists in 59 games while making his NHL Debut with the Calgary Flames on April 23rd , 2013 Vs the Nashville Predators. Expect his numbers to rise this upcoming AHL season as shown when he’s healthy he is a force to be reckoned with.
