Tonight’s game against the Colorado Avalanche is sure to be a good one. The Calgary Flames will be the underdog in this game, but not all the odds are against them.
The Avs are coming off a blow-out loss in Edmonton last night with a final score of 8-2 in favour of the Oilers. Colorado will be looking for redemption tonight in Calgary.
The Avalanche won the first matchup, in November, against the Flames with a final score of 4-2 and the Flames will be looking to tie the series. But it won’t be easy considering that Colorado have a record of 19-7-0 so far this season.
Yet, in the last ten games, the records seem to be more evenly matched. Colorado is sitting at a record of 5-5-0 while Calgary has a ten-game record of 4-4-2. I think tonight’s tilt will be a tough battle to win, but it won’t be impossible.
It’s not clear whether or not McGrattan will be in the lineup tonight after leaving practice early on Thursday. Hartley explained that it was nothing serious and, I noticed, McGrattan is in the projected lineup for tonight’s game. The Colorado Avalanche, under direction from Roy, have never been known to back down and I have a feeling we may need the McGrattan muscle tonight.
Max Reinhart was sent back down to the Abbotsford Heat while Lane MacDermid was recalled to the Flames lineup yesterday. I’m guessing that MacDermid’s time in Abby was probably a conditioning stint before taking his place on the Flames roster.
Calgary will not be playing against former teammate, Alex Tanguay, as he is sidelined with a knee injury.
Ramo gets another start in net tonight when the puck is dropped at 7pm, MT.
