Prospect Update
Eric Roy (Brandon Wheat Kings), Morgan Klimchuk (Regina Pats), and Coda Gordon (Swift Current Broncos) have all been sitting on the sidelines with injuries recently, while Emile Poirier (Gatineau Olympiques) has been going through a two-game point draught. On the other hand, Kenny Agostino (Yale Bulldogs) is the scoring leader in the last twelve games and Mark Jankowski (Providence College Friars) is ranked second in goals scored with seven goals in sixteen games. Here is a link to updates on the Flames website.
Markus Granlund
Granlund is in his first year away from Finland and is finding solace in his fellow teammate, Joni Ortio. Ortio has taken Granlund under his wing to help the first-year find his way in his new hockey life. According to the latest update, Granlund has had a tough time coming to a new country with new players and coaching staff, but everyone has been very welcoming and helpful. Whatever the case, it’s working for Granlund as he has 12 goals and 11 assists in 24 games so far.
Sven Baertschi
He hasn’t played yet for the Abbotsford Heat but he got a chance to speak to the media about his recent demotion. It seems that his attitude about the game hasn’t changed even if the team has. As he explained on the Flames website, “I don’t want to change anything, I just want to play.” A great perspective from a great future player.
