The Calgary Flames have been plagued with injuries this season, and the game in Pittsburgh was no exception.
Curtis Glencross is back on the injured list. It only took a few seconds into the game against the Pittsburgh Penguins when Glencross hit the end boards and fell awkwardly to the ice, twisting his left knee. He hobbled around the ice in front of his own net for a few seconds, because the play was still going on in the Flames end, and when he finally reached the bench, he was taken straight to the dressing room. He wasn’t able to put weight on his leg as he skated off the ice and made his way down the tunnel.
Previously, Glencross missed 15 games due to a 2nd degree MCL injury. This was his fifth game back in the line-up for the Calgary Flames and he is expected to be out for a while again with a lower body injury.
In his place will be Derek Smith. Smith was called up from the Abbotsford Heat yesterday. Hopefully, Smith can bring some much-needed defense to the blue line for the Flames.
He has played 11 games for the Flames this season and tallied 1 assist during that time. In Abbotsford, while playing for the Heat, he has tallied 1 goal in 5 games.
