Switzerland has announced its Olympic Roster. The best players in the world will be in Sochi, Russia to represent their countries in our favourite game. For the Swiss team, two Flames players were invited to the camp.
Of the 25 man roster, our own Flames netminder, Reto Berra has been named on the Swiss team alongside Anaheim Ducks Jonas Hiller.
Even though he was invited to camp but didn’t make the final roster, Sven Baertschi of the Abbotsford Heat, was named on a replacement list that will be used as back ups in case of injuries or other emergencies. Anaheim Ducks defenseman, Luca Sbisa, was also named on the replacement list.
Nino Niederreiter of the Minnesota Wild was named as one of the forwards. Some notable defenseman representing Switzerland will be Montreal Canadiens Raphael Diaz, Vancouver Canucks Yannick Weber, and Philadelphia Flyers Mark Streit.
From February 6th to 23rd, the best of the best will be in Sochi, Russia. During that time, the NHL will have to make due without some of their top players so that we get the chance to watch them represent our countries on the world’s largest hockey stage.
