26 year old Ben Street has been recalled to the Calgary Flames from the AHL Abbotsford Heat. Street was signed in July 2012 as a free agent and has already played eight games earlier this season for the Flames, earning one assist during that time.
Since then, while playing in Abbotsford, he has garnered 33 points in 31 games. With 17 goals and 16 assists, he leads the Heat in scoring. Saturday night, it was Street’s overtime goal that raised the Heat over the San Antonio Rampage by a score of 3-2, also breaking a four game losing streak by Abbotsford.
Recently, alongside Chad Billins, Street has been named to the AHL All-Star team and they will play in St. John’s, Newfoundland in February.
From what I’ve seen of Ben Street, he plays well against the boards and is skilled at setting up plays, which is exactly what the Flames need right now. With any luck, Calgary’s offense will continue from last night’s tilt against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Calgary Flames will be hosted by the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday, January 13 and puck drop will be at 5pm MT.
