Shane O’Brien, after being placed on waivers, has been sent down to play for the Abbotsford Heat. The Calgary Herald reports that Brian Burke is trying to shop O’Brien, quoting Burke as saying, “we’ll see if there’s a team that would take him…”

In O’Brien’s place, Chris Breen has been called up to play for the Calgary Flames. Breen has previously played five games for the Flames and, at 6’6″ and 250lbs, will bring strength and size to the blue line.

A quick preview of tomorrow night’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks shows that Reto Berra will start in net. The projected line-up also shows that Ladislav Smid and Brian McGrattan will return to the ice as well.

And now for a few smiles. The Rookie Reporter  was back in action as Matthew got the chance to chat with Brian McGrattan in the dressing room. They talk Newfoundland, video games, girlfriends, and the Boston Bruins in this installment. Big props to all the guys who have taken on these mini-reporters and all the reporters who have had the courage to sit in front of the camera and allow us to be part of it!
