The Calgary Flames host the L.A. Kings tonight at the Saddledome.
The Kings are on a seven game win streak right now. The last game they lost was on February 3rd against the Chicago Blackhawks. L.A. is in 8th place in the league standings with 80 points while the Flames are slowly crawling the ladder, sitting in 26th place with 57 points.
The Flames injured list is lengthy and they will play without the offensive drive of Curtis Glencross, David Jones, and Jiri Hudler while the blue line will be missing out on Dennis Wideman. Karri Ramo is still out with a lower body injury and Matt Stajan will not be in tonight’s game. Even though Kevin Westgarth is not on the injured list, I have a feeling he will still be sitting out during this game due to a concussion.
Mikael Backlund and Mike Cammalleri will have to step up in place of the forwards that are missing. Backlund has seemed almost invisible in the last couple games and really needs to push hard and fight for scoring chances. Even though Cammalleri has had plenty of shots on net, he can’t seem to bury them. He will have to find the back of the net tonight if the Flames hope to win against former Flames defenseman, now L.A. powerhouse, Robyn Regehr, and the Kings.
We can expect a hard-hitting, fast-paced game of hockey tonight against one of the most powerful and naturally talented teams in the league.
Game time starts at 7pm MST. For our Saskatchewan fans, don’t forget about the time change due to Daylight Savings Time!
