Good morning Calgary Flames fans!  Exactly 7 weeks until the Calgary Flames open up their exhibition season against the Edmonton Oilers.  Via Twitter, I have already reached out to the editor of the Oilers FanSided site and asked about a “friendly wager” whenever our respective teams play each other.  No response yet.  Do any of you Flames fans have an idea for a proposed friendly wager between Flame For Thought and Oil On Whyte?

Yesterday’s “Hot Start” featured a correction, a music video and a link to NHL.com’s date that they will release their season preview on our Calgary Flames.

Speaking of season previews – – NBC Sports ProHockeyTalk has released their Calgary Flames preview.  Here a couple snippets from the article:

"Sure, finishing with the fourth-worst record in the NHL was bad, but they weren’t anywhere near as futile as the Buffalo Sabres or as frustrating as the Edmonton Oilers. Their -32 goal differential advances the argument that they were at least “scrappy” when you consider their Alberta natives went -67 last season (and the Sabres fell by a resounding -91)…The Hiller signing is intriguing, although one cannot help but wonder if the Swiss goalie will help the Flames be just good enough to miss a high spot in the coveted 2015 NHL Draft while not elevating them enough to make the playoffs."

Over at Yahoo’s Puck Daddy site/blog, they are also reviewing teams but in a different sort of way.  I will let there explanation be my explanation for simplicity sake.

"(Ed. Note: There’s entirely too much sunshine in the summer. So your friends at Puck Daddy are offering a month of thrown shade and perpetual gloom. Behold, our Summer of Disappointment series, in which we ask fans of all 30 teams to recall the biggest bummer moments, teams and players in franchise history! Please wade into their misery like a freezing resort pool, and add your own choices in the comments!)"

The Puck Daddy story on our Calgary Flames includes the categories  Most Disappointing Moment in Flames History” and “Most Disappointing Flames Transaction“.

A little closer to home, the twitter account of “Iggy Smalls” aka “FlamingMoses79” does a phenomenal job occasionally posting “edits”.  An “edit’ is a simple picture made soo much better.  Through Twitter, I asked him for permission to post some of his “edits” randomly throughout these “Hot Start” articles.  Soon, Sunday mornings will almost always include game review from a Saturday night hockey game.  I figure that would be the perfect time to display Iggy Smalls work.

Have a great Sunday Flames fans!
