Good morning Calgary Flames fans!
It seems that the overwhelming feeling amongst Flame For Thought readers is that Jarome Iginla is the greatest Calgary Flame of all time. With 52% of the vote, Iginla would have to squint his eyes to see the two Flame players who tied for second place – – Lanny McDonald and Miikka Kiprusoff. I wonder which two Calgary Flame players garnered votes under the “other” category?
The website, The Hockey Writers, wrote an article on who they feel are the Calgary Flames Top 5 prospects. The list as is follows:
- Sam Bennett
- Johnny Gaudreau
- Tyler Wotherspoon
- Emile Poirier
- Jon Gillies
I respectfully ask our Flame For Thought family, agree or disagree?
Staying with the theme of agree or disagree. Here is a snippet from FanSided NHL writer Mike Majeski’s article, “Should hockey have a summer league?”
"“…the NHL should look to the NBA for some inspiration and develop a summer league tournament. A one or two week tournament held after prospect camps are done would be entertaining to hardcore hockey fans, as well as beneficial to the teams and players taking part in the games.”"
I am a fan of the NBA. Over the years, I have come to understand that the level of play in NBA Summer League is not great. That said, by the time the tournament starts, I am chomping at the bit to watch my favorite team play. If the NHL were to develop a Summer League, I see the exact same pattern developing. The hunger for hockey would override the common sense factor that many of the games would be tough to slug through.
Lastly this morning, a tweeted message from Brian McGrattan:
Have a great day Flames fans!
