Good morning Calgary Flames fans!
Yesterday’s “Hot Start” included reactions to the signing of Devin Setoguchi and an ISEE edit of what Calgary Flames enforcer Brian McGrattan will do to NHL players trying to get too close to our rookies. If anything, click this link just to see the edit.
Since the signing of Devin Setoguchi, I am reading many more opinions expressing that Johnny Gaudreau may start the season in the AHL with the Adirondack Flames instead of the NHL Calgary Flames. What is your opinion? Please vote in the poll.
Dreaming of the potential of Calgary Flames youngsters such as Johnny Gaudreau, Sam Bennett, and Sean Monahan, a person’s mind wanders to the record books. I Google’d up the Wikipedia page for Calgary Flames records. In today’s NHL, here are 3 Calgary Flames records that will NEVER be broken.
Jarome Iginla’s 1219 games played as a Calgary Flame will stand the test of time. In the free agent frenzy of todays game, does anybody expect to keep a player for over 14 years on their roster?
Lanny McDonald’s 66 goal 1982-83 season and Kent Nilsson’s 82 assist 1980-81 season are also records that will stand the test of time for the Calgary Flames. Last season, Alex Ovechkin led the league in scoring with 51 goals and Sidney Crosby led the league in assists with 68.
Over at NHL.com, today is Calgary Flames day. So much is covered, that it earned it’s own article on this site aptly named “Reactions to Calgary Flames Day at NHL.com”.
Have a great day Flames fans!
