For those of you who do not follow the “Harry Potter” series of books and movies, a personality trait of Mr. Potter is “saving people”.  The Calgary Flames announced today that they have signed defenseman Corey Potter.  Our version of Mr. Potter will block a few shots for “saves” but that is as majestic as he gets.

The former New York Ranger, Pittsburgh Penguin, Edmonton Oiler and Boston Bruin, Corey Potter is listed at 6’3″, 204 pounds.  Despite his good size, Potter is not known for the “truculence” that our Calgary Flames have become synonymous for exuding.

Corey Potter is a mobile defenseman but you won’t hear the word “fast” associated with him.  Corey Potter is a respectable third pairing defenseman but if moves up to the second pairing ***shudder***.

David Staples of the Edmonton Journal sums up Corey Potter the best in his April 11, 2013 article:

"“Potter is a decent player against mediocre competition“"

The one-year contract Corey Potter signed with our Calgary Flames is a two-way contract.  If you are in the market for a Corey Potter jersey, may I suggest making it an Adirondack Flames jersey.
