Good morning Calgary Flames fans!

Last night Flame For Thought re-introduced a man known as a brute on the ice but the furthest from a brute off the ice, Brian McGrattan.

In the heart of the Brian McGrattan article cover picture, is Calgary Flames assistant coach Martin Gelinas who made news yesterday.  The entire story is at Slam Sports but here’s the meat and potatoes:

"“I’m an idiot,” smiled the Calgary Flames personable assistant coach, flashing that infectious grin of his.“Typical man — I was trying to be brave and do things myself by washing windows on a beautiful day last Saturday. I was on the ladder trying to take that last step up onto the roof and the ladder gave out. I grabbed the gutter, but it’s so sharp it just sliced me open, I had to let it go.”Gelinas fell more than 10 feet to the ground, landing on his back.Somehow he managed to bounce right back up as veteran hockey players are trained to do."

NHL.com’s recently released top prospects list includes this year’s Calgary Flame number 1 draft pick, 4th overall, Sam Bennett (#8) and Boston College folklore hero “Johnny Hockey” Johnny Gaudreau (#26).  The first chance to watch these two players play together is this Friday night at the “Young Stars Tournament” kicks off in Pentincton, BC on Friday with a game against the Winnipeg Jets at 5PM local time.  All Flames games will be streamed live on the Flames app, CalgaryFlames.com, and the Flames YouTube channel.

Have a great day Flames fans! Drive safe!!
