Calgary Flames Hot Start to the Morning Vol 56

Good morning Calgary Flames fans!

Yesterday our Calgary Flames made 12 roster moves which can be found HERE.  Of the cuts made, I suggest Ken Agostino is the first one called up.  He has NHL speed and if he can show in the AHL he is willing to use his NHL size (6’1″ 200 pounds) more effectively a bright future is in store for Mr. Agostino.  If the Calgary Flames are simply looking to add “truculence” then Michael Ferland, who I believe will start the season with Adirondack, will be called up long before David Wolf.

The Calgary Sun  provided a nice recap of Calgary Flames players fighting various ailments.  I’ve listed below the players that I believe are most likely to have an impact on the Calgary Flames in October 2014:

"Centre Markus Granlund is now on the shelf due to a head injury…“I think it could be a concussion,” head coach Bob Hartley said Saturday.Right-winger David Jones was supposed to play Sunday’s pre-season game in Denver… is listed as day-to-day with a lower-body injury.Ladislav Smid was skating with the injured crew… he needed a few teeth removed.Centre Mikael Backlund (abdomen) also was on the ice with the injured crew, although he was taking things easy.LW Mason Raymond (suspected groin) is expected to be skating again in the next couple of days."

Our Calgary Flames play tonight in Colorado beginning at 6PM local time.  I am assuming we will see the return of Johnny Gaudreau to the lineup (Gaudreau did not play in the two Vancouver games).  Are you as excited about that as I am?

I checked out the FanSided Colorado Avalanche site Mile High Sticking and here is an interesting snippet that I had overlooked:

"…(Jarome) Iginla has faced his former team in different uniforms. One young man who has not, though, is Reto Berra….It’d be fun if the Avalanche started Berra the same night the Flames started Hiller — fellow Swiss, they were teammates in the Olympics."

For the weekly edition of ISEE (Iggy Smalls Excellent Edits) it is only appropriate to feature the former Calgary Flames captain, Jarome Iginla.

Have a great day Flames fans!
