Good morning Calgary Flames fans!

Our Calgary Flames defeated the Colorado Avalanche last night in Denver by a score of 2-1.  If you missed the Flame For Thought game review, it is HERE.

Reading the Calgary Herald‘s review of the game, one of the next defenseman to be cut by the Calgary Flames at least got his name put into the article:

"Ryan O’Reilly, his face still bearded in full playoff form, exploited the inexperience of Flames prospect Ryan Culkin and slipped around the defender to pick the top corner of Ramo’s crease. The Avs centreman made it a tie game, 1-1 less than five minutes into the second period."

Raphael Diaz had another strong showing for our Calgary Flames in his attempt to earn a contract during his tryout with the team.  Sure the team could have done without the two penalties but with an assist, 5 shots on goal and 3 blocked shots, Diaz has come better than advertised. I still believe if Diaz does not sign a contract with the Flames it’s because he’s too good to be a number seven defenseman.  I also believe if the Flames let him walk away without a contract, Diaz will be picked up in time to start the NHL season with another team.

During his pregame interview on the Fan 960, Diaz recalls coming to Calgary to the sight of snow and then days later enjoying plus twenty weather. Diaz’s experience in Calgary would have been much different ONE YEAR AGO. It was a year ago yesterday CBC.ca published the following article, “Inside the Saddledome after Alberta floods“.

1st overall draft pick Sam Bennett shared a life lesson yesterday on Twitter that reminds you of just how young he really is (18):

Have a great morning Calgary Flames fans!
